Sizing, Placement & Electrical for a 3-Person Infrared Sauna
The 3-person model is our largest, but it still fits comfortably in most homes. The one thing that differs from our smaller models is the electrical requirement — and it is simpler than most people expect.
Room to Stretch
You need a floor area of roughly 6' × 4' and a ceiling height of at least 6'6". Ideal for larger rooms, dedicated work-out spaces or gyms.
Interior: 64½" wide × 41" deep × 70" tall — with a 32½" bench height for comfortable seating and a 20" deep seat.
Space Required
The TR-3 and TRS-3 measure 67¾" wide × 46¼" deep × 77½" tall — roughly the footprint of a small sofa or loveseat. Plan for a floor area of approximately 6' × 4' and a ceiling height of at least 6'6". Common placements include basements, dedicated wellness rooms, large master suites, and insulated garages.
Electrical — The 20-Amp Question
The 3-person models require a 120V, 20-amp dedicated circuit. This is the same standard household voltage — just a slightly higher amperage than a typical 15A outlet. Many homes already have 20-amp circuits in kitchens, bathrooms, and garages. If your intended room needs one added, a licensed electrician can typically install it in a few hours. It is a one-time setup — once the outlet is in place, you simply plug in.
How to Tell If You Already Have a 20A Outlet
A 20-amp outlet looks nearly identical to a standard outlet, with one difference: one of the vertical slots has a small horizontal notch forming a sideways T-shape. Check the outlets in your intended room — you may already have what you need. Your electrician or our team can help you confirm if you are unsure.
Best Rooms
The 3-person sauna works well in any room with adequate floor space and ceiling height. Our customers most commonly place it in a finished basement, a dedicated wellness or exercise room, a large master suite, or an insulated garage. Because the sauna produces no steam and needs no drain, there are no special room requirements beyond the electrical circuit.
Delivery & Assembly
Your sauna arrives as wrapped and boxed panels via freight shipping with free delivery in the continental US. Every panel fits through a standard doorway. We recommend two people for assembly. Most customers complete assembly in 60–90 minutes with no special tools required.
Moving & Relocating
Like all Transcend models, the 3-person sauna assembles with buckle hardware rather than permanent fasteners. It can be fully disassembled, moved, and reassembled in a new location. If you anticipate a future move, this is worth noting — you are not committing to a permanent installation.
