What are Triple Antifield Heaters?
The best infrared sauna heaters are far infrared, triple antifield heaters. Triple antifield heaters mitigate all 3 kinds of EMF (electromagnetic fields). The EMF in saunas without EMF mitigation negates some of the most important health benefits of infrared saunas.
The best carbon heaters only mitigate 1 kind of EMF (magnetic fields only), have high electric fields, and therefore are single antifield heaters with all of the limitations that come with that.

No EMF Hot-Spots
High Tech Health infrared sauna heaters are manufactured to very high tolerances. For this reason, our heaters have very consistent EMF levels and lack the hot-spots found on other heaters.
Beware of sauna companies that do not provide the maximum field levels found on their heaters because these levels tell you how high the hot-spots are on the heater they tested. These hot-spots are indicative of your true level of exposure.
MAXIMUM EMF Levels Confirmed by Third Party
No other company currently provides a report showing both MAXIMUM electric field and MAXIMUM magnetic field. In fact, most other infrared saunas have such high electric field levels that they won't mention electric fields at all.
No Zero-Frequency EMF
Our heaters are truly low EMF at every frequency for both electric fields and magnetic fields. We do not use DC power (zero frequency), sometimes used to make a heater's fields difficult to measure, and so our heaters have no electric or magnetic fields present at 0 Hz (which are undetectable with the typical tools).
Vitatech Electromagnetics, a company specializing in EMF measurement and engineering, has located and measured the maximum electric field level and maximum magnetic field at the surface of the heater we use behind the backrest in our saunas.

Regular Infrared Sauna Heaters
EMF is inherent to everything that is electrical. The more power an electric device consumes, the more EMF that will be present. Infrared saunas by their very nature consume a lot of power (watts). Your exposure to EMF increases with your proximity to all that power and in an infrared sauna you lean right up against it.
Without efforts to mitigate EMF, all infrared sauna heaters have high electric fields and high magnetic fields.

Single Antifield Heaters
Despite often being advertised as "low EMF", single antifield heaters only mitigate 1 kind of EMF: typically magnetic fields only.

- Notice the maximum magnetic field level is much higher than such companies ever suggest. Almost no companies ask Vitatech to locate the maximum levels. Instead they direct Vitatech to measure only points they know are very low.
There is No Such Thing as a "No EMF" Heater
At best, a "no EMF" heater is probably a single anti-field heater with lowered magnetic fields and high electric fields. No engineer would ever claim such a heater has "no EMF".
EMF is inherent to everything that is electrical. The more power an electric device consumes, the more EMF that will be present. Separate steps must be taken to reduce electric and magnetic fields. Magnetic field reduction is imperfect and electric field reduction can be imperfect too.
No company has yet to make a backrest heater with a maximum magnetic field level at the heater's surface below the threshold of detection. It hasn't happened yet and probably won't ever happen. EVERY heater has measurable magnetic fields somewhere at its surface.
Don't trust any company that suggests they have a "no EMF" heater.
Don't trust any third-party EMF report that does not seek to identify maximum field levels at a heater's surface. Also, every third-party EMF report should confirm the manufacturer's stated power level.

Ultra Power Efficient
An infrared sauna's power efficiency is determined by how much electricity is used to produce the hot air and infrared inside the cabin.
Electricity → Hot Air + Infrared
The air temperature is the result of the air that comes in contact with the heaters. The infrared produced by the heaters is absorbed by your body, but very poorly absorbed by the air so has little affect on air temperature.
We use polished aluminum for our reflectors. That is the best infrared reflector that can be made without using precious metals (such as gold). No other company, if they have a reflector at all, uses polished aluminum. Other companies will put aluminum foil on the back of their heaters to reduce the infrared lost, however aluminum foil is not even remotely as effective at reflecting infrared energy (i.e. its emissivity is too high). Our use of polished aluminum significantly increases our sauna's power efficiency over other saunas, so you will save money in the long run.
We use high-grade stainless steel for our heating elements. There is no coating on the surface of the heaters, so there is no concern for off-gassing. The reason our heaters do not appear shiny, like typical stainless steel, is because they are put through a heating process called "black annealing" that makes their emissivity high and enhances their emission of infrared energy.
Our all-metal heater design means our sauna heaters will outlast those in other saunas. In fact, we have never replaced a heater in the history of the company. Also due to our all-metal heater design, there isn't the off-gassing that occurs with carbon heaters, or other heaters that are made using printed circuit board technology.
The printed circuit board technology used to make other sauna heaters is made from glass fabric impregnated with epoxy resin. That epoxy resin is made from epichlorohydrin and bisphenol A, or epichlorohydrin and tetrabromo bisphenol A (a fire retardant).
The heating element inside High Tech Health infrared heaters is the surface that radiates infrared energy. Our reflector-heating element-protector design keeps the warmed air that contacts the heaters inside the cabin, and the reflector keeps the infrared inside the cabin. This makes for the most efficient infrared heater in the industry.
In contrast, most other saunas use large panel heaters (such as carbon heaters) that cover most of the inside of a sauna. A panel heater's entire surface gets hot and radiates infrared from all sides. The half of the surface that is inside the wall heats the air inside the wall as well as the wall itself. All that energy is completely wasted. The infrared radiating from the heater into the wall is also completely wasted.
For these reasons, panel heaters are incredibly wasteful of power. This is why the inside of such saunas are covered in heaters, and why some of those two-person size saunas draw so much power that they even need 20 amp outlets.
Safer & More Reliable
Our infrared heaters are safer. They are an Underwriter's Laboratory (U.L.) recognized component. That means they meet UL's design requirements and that UL has evaluated them and their materials for safety. Few companies take this extra step. In fact, no panel heater has any component-level endorsement of safety.
Our heaters have an extremely long design life. Our history in the sauna business is also one of the longest, going back to 1997. In that time, we have yet to replace any heater that has reached the end of its life. We know of no other sauna company that can say this.
